admin December 2, 2025

THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has confirmed that nine Filipino seafarers, who were held hostage by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, are expected to be released soon.

The information was relayed to the DFA by officials from the Sultanate of Oman, who have been mediating in the situation. The seafarers were crew members of the M/V Eternity C, which was seized by the Houthis.

The DFA has been working tirelessly to secure the release of the Filipino seafarers since the incident occurred. Philippine authorities have been coordinating with various international partners and diplomatic channels to ensure the safe return of the seafarers to their families. The news of their impending release brings a sense of relief and hope to the Philippines.

Further details regarding the exact timing and location of the release are still being finalized. The DFA has assured the public that it will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

The Philippine government expresses its gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for its crucial role in facilitating the release of the seafarers and for its continued support in ensuring the safety and well-being of Filipino citizens abroad.
