THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) successfully auctioned off three luxury vehicles belonging to controversial couple Curlee and Sarah Discaya, who are implicated in the flood control corruption scandal, raising a total of P38,211,710.00.
The auction, held on Thursday morning, saw Simplex Industrial Corp. and Lestrell Jewelries emerge as the winning bidders for the high-end vehicles.
Simplex Industrial Corp. acquired a Mercedes-Benz G500 (2019) Brabus for P15,500,000 and a Mercedes Benz G63 AMG (2022) for P15,611,710.00.
Lestrell Jewelries secured the Lincoln Navigator (2022) with a bid of P7,100,000.00.
However, the auction for the remaining four vehicles, including an infamous Rolls-Royce Cullinan (2023) with a free umbrella, failed to attract any bidders. The Rolls-Royce, with an initial floor price of P45,314,391.11, along with a Toyota Tundra (2022), Toyota Sequoia (2023), and Bentley Bentayga (2022), were declared “failed” due to lack of interest. The BOC is now considering lowering the floor prices for these unsold vehicles in a subsequent auction.
