THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced on Friday the revocation of the driver’s license of Leo Gonzales, the driver responsible for the car crash at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 departure area on May 4.
The incident resulted in two fatalities and four injuries.
Gonzales was found guilty of reckless driving by the LTO. His penalties include a P2,000 fine and a four-year revocation of his driver’s license.
The LTO deemed him an “improper person to operate a motor vehicle” due to the severity of the accident and the resulting casualties. The decision concludes the LTO’s investigation into the incident.
The May 4 crash caused significant disruption at NAIA Terminal 1 and sparked public outrage over the safety of airport access roads. The LTO’s action is expected to send a strong message about the consequences of reckless driving and the importance of road safety, particularly in high-traffic areas like airports.
