THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has expressed confidence in the smooth and peaceful conduct of the May 12 national and local elections.
Comelec chair George Garcia anticipates a swift election process, citing the efficient setup of the voting system to ensure a rapid proclamation of results.
Garcia urged the public to trust the election system and process, cautioning against the spread of fake news. He emphasized the importance of verifying information from reliable sources.
In a separate matter, Garcia reminded national and local candidates to remove large campaign materials from highways.
This is mandatory as of 12:01 AM on May 11, in accordance with election regulations.
The Comelec’s Task Force Baklas has already filed over 50 complaints against candidates who failed to comply with the removal order, and will continue to pursue legal action against those violating the no-campaign rule.
