House leaders mourn passing of Rep. Edcel Lagman

admin January 30, 2025

HOUSE Speaker Martin Romualdez and Albay Representative Joey Salceda led expressions of grief over the death of Albay 1st District Representative Edcel Lagman. Lagman, a prominent figure in Philippine politics, passed away on January 30, 2025.

Speaker Romualdez described Lagman as “a passionate and fearless legislator whose presence in the House of Representatives commanded respect.”

He highlighted Lagman’s “sharp intellect, unwavering principles, and deep commitment to the causes he believed in,” noting that his dedication to human rights, good governance, and social justice was undeniable.

Romualdez praised Lagman’s eloquence and his ability to stimulate critical debate and decisive action. He extended condolences to Lagman’s family, friends, and colleagues in the Liberal Party, emphasizing that Lagman’s legacy of service and integrity would endure.

Representative Salceda, also representing Albay province, expressed his honor in serving alongside Lagman, describing him as “always formidable.”

He offered condolences to Lagman’s family and wished him peace in his passing. The loss of Lagman leaves a significant void in both the House of Representatives and the broader landscape of Philippine public service, according to both statements.
