THREE individuals, including a Manila Bulleting IT employee, have been arrested behind the hacking of several government websites, said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday.
In a radio report, the NBI said that they retrieved information such as scripts and databases of local government units and other government websites.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the three individuals are members of the hacking group LulzSec.
NBI cybercrime chief Jeremy Lontoc said one is a data officer of a media organization, another is a cyber security researcher in a company, and the other is a graduating student.
The Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, and the National Security Agency were among the websites that the three reportedly hacked.
Authorities retrieved data and security credentials of about five banks from the alleged perpetrators, the dzBB report said.
Complaints have been filed against the three individuals for violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
