THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) early this year has ceased the operations of another consultancy firm based in Manila for alleged illegal recruitment of Filipino workers in Germany.

DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo Cacdac together with the Migrant Workers Protection Bureau (MWPB), in coordination with the Manila City Police, padlocked the office of Gisgerman Document Facilitation Services (GIS Manila) located at the 2nd Floor, Alcantara Bldg.,704 Pablo Ocampo Sr. St., Malate, Manila.

GIS Manila, without necessary license with the DMW, promises jobs as hotel workers, caregivers, and nurses in Germany with exorbitant fees of Php 102,000 for series of language trainings with initial Php 5,000 enrollment fee.

MWPB disclosed that in case the applicant finished the language training, GIS Manila will then directly refer the applicant to German employers, with additional fee of Php 99,000 for the processing of supposed overseas employment.

“We will never tolerate any individuals or companies preying on the hope of Filipinos wanting to land a decent job abroad. Again, I am reiterating this warning to our Kababayans to always check the DMW website (www.dmw gov.ph) for the list of licensed agencies and approved job orders to avoid illegal recruitment,” said Cacdac.

Filipino overseas jobseekers may visit the DMW website (www.dmw.gov.ph) for the list of licensed agencies with approved job orders.

The closure of GIS Manila results in the inclusion of the consultancy firm and its officers in the DMW “List of Persons and Establishments with Derogatory Record” to prevent them from participating in the government’s overseas recruitment program.

They will also face charges of illegal recruitment committed by a syndicate, which is punishable by life imprisonment and fine ranging from Php 2,000,000 to Php 5,000,000.

The DMW encourages the victims of GIS Manila to contact the MPB through their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/dmwairtip, email at mwpb@dmw.gov.ph for the filing of cases against the consultancy firm.
