OFW Party List Representative Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino inspected today the ongoing preparations for the OFW Lounge at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1.
The OFW Lounge will be inaugurated this December in time for the peak season of arrivals and departures of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
During the budget deliberations at the House of Representatives last September, OFW Party List Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino urged the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to put up OFW lounges in our international airports. She also filed House Resolution 1305, which seeks an inquiry on the establishment of OFW lounges.
DOTR, through the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), heeded the call and promptly allotted spaces in Terminals 1 and 3 for the OFW Lounges. Meanwhile, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has been leading the renovations and the provision of amenities, in coordination with MIAA.
