THE Philippine Embassy in Riyadh has issued an urgent security advisory to Filipinos in Saudi Arabia following escalating attacks by Yemen’s Iran‑aligned Houthi movement that have claimed three lives this week.
In its official notice, the embassy urged all Filipinos across the Kingdom to remain alert, calm, and vigilant as the security situation evolves. “Be on guard at all times, avoid areas that may pose danger, and stay indoors if necessary especially when a security warning is in effect,” the advisory stated.
Travelers planning to fly were told to confirm their flight status directly with their airline before proceeding to the airport, as operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and other facilities have been disrupted — with numerous delays, cancellations, and changes to schedules.
The embassy also issued a critical safety reminder: any suspicious objects or debris found on the ground should not be approached, touched, or picked up, as these may be remnants of intercepted missiles or drones. Individuals are advised to move away immediately and report the item to Saudi authorities.
The embassy further cautioned Filipinos against sharing or posting unverified news, photos, or videos related to security incidents, emphasizing reliance only on official sources of information. It confirmed that the Philippine Embassy and consular offices remain fully operational and ready to provide assistance to nationals in need.
The advisory follows Houthi strikes targeting Riyadh’s airport and other infrastructure on Thursday, which have heightened tensions across the region and prompted flight suspensions by international carriers including Lufthansa and Air India.
