LAWYER Raymond Fortun has pledged legal support to an unfortunate cyclist who encountered a threatening incident involving a suspected road rage perpetrator near Welcome Rotonda in Quezon City on August 8.
A video clip showing the incident has gained widespread attention after being shared on Fortun’s official Facebook page, amassing more than 109,000 shares and garnering diverse reactions, totaling 131,000, from internet users as of this writing.
The clip showed the suspect brandishing and cocking a pistol of still undetermined caliber.
The alleged offender, a middle-aged individual with a bald head and a portly physique, gives the impression of being a public servant due to an unidentified emblem affixed to his collar.
In a recent update posted on his Facebook account, Fortun has furnished information pertaining to the perpetrator’s vehicle—a red 2013 Kia Rio EX AT, bearing the license plate number ULQ 802.
The chassis number is KNADN412BD6162768, while the engine number reads G4FACS387853. Curiously, the vehicle’s registration for the year 2023 appears to be lacking.
Fortun said that he already has information about the registered owner’s name and address.
Fortun said that members of the cycling community are seeking assistance in identifying the individual who was operating the Kia car around 6:00 PM on August 8, 2023, in the vicinity of Welcome Rotonda.
The individual is alleged to have recklessly intersected the cyclist’s path, subsequently resorting to physical aggression and brandishing a firearm—an act that constitutes a criminal offense under prevailing penal statutes.
Fortun’s Facebook post underscored the likelihood of the perpetrator’s affiliation with the government, alluding to the presence of a lapel pin.
