THE public has been warned by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Tuesday against unauthorized websites and social media pages that are posting false information related to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) project.
The PSA issued an advisory disowning the portal dswd-ayuda-news.blogspot.com, which has been posting unverified information on the acquisition of the Philippine Identification (PhilID) card or the national ID.
“Huwag maniwala sa pahayag nitong makakatanggap ang PhilSys registrants ng PHP10,000 pagkatapos magrehistro (Do not believe in statements that PhilSys registrants will get PHP10,000 cash assistance after registration),” the advisory read.
Under the co-location strategy of PSA with Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank), the opening bank accounts of registrants after the completion of the Step 2 biometrics process is voluntary and does not include cash assistance.
The PSA urged the public to obtain information only from the official website portal philsys.gov.ph or official Facebook account facebook.com/PSAPhilSysOfficial.
It reminded anew the public to avoid exposing PhilSys registration details, including Application Reference Number, transaction slip, PhilSys Number, and posting photos of the actual PhilID card, to prevent illegal activities such as identity fraud.
The Step 1 online registration can be made through register.philsys.gov.ph while the Step 2 phase (fingerprints, iris scans, and front-facing photographs) must be in registration centers.
The Philippine Postal Corporation will deliver the PhilID cards.
The entire application process and delivery are free of charge.
