TYPHOON Aghon maintains strength as it moves toward the northeast direction while over the Philippine Sea.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Typhoon Aghon is at 100 km East Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora with maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 170 km/h.
The agency said tropical cyclone wind signal #2 remains in effect over the southeastern portion of Isabela (Dinapigue, Palanan), and the northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran). Residents here may expect minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds.
Meanwhile, signal #1 is up over the northeastern and southern portions of Isabela, the eastern portion of Quirino, the southern portion of Nueva Vizcaya, the rest of Aurora, the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands, and the northwestern portion of Camarines Norte including Calaguas Islands. Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds may be expected in these areas.
Based on the track forecast, the typhoon is expected to maintain its northeastward direction prior to its exit in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the afternoon or evening Wednesday, May 29.
