MEMBERS of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) continue their rescue operations to ‘Paeng’ victims in Kawit, Cavite.
THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday that it is closely monitoring a new tropical depression that may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday.
Once inside PAR, the tropical cyclone will be named “Queenie,” the 17th to enter the country this year and fifth this month.
“For now, it does not have yet direct effect on the country but Pagasa is keeping a close watch on this tropical depression which is currently over the Pacific Ocean,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.
The cyclone was last spotted 1,385 kilometers east of Mindanao, moving west-northwest at 10 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
