CAAP extends assistance to stranded passengers due to ‘Paeng’

admin October 30, 2022

THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has been stretching its services and operating hours to provide aid to stranded passengers and diverted flights due to Tropical Storm ‘Paeng.’

Masbate, Tacloban, Laguindingan, and Zamboanga airports provided assistance kits to stranded passengers and allowed them to take shelter in the airport terminal during the typhoon and while waiting for their flights.

Aside from assisting passengers, CAAP-operated airports in Puerto Princesa, Bohol-Panglao, Laguindingan, and Davao also facilitated and received several diverted international and domestic flights from Manila during the temporary closure of Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s (NAIA) runway yesterday, 29 October.

“Despite the damages brought by the storm to our kababayans, we commend the coordination and initiative of our provincial airports and staff, who willingly offered help during the height of the storm. Together, we hope we can rise back up from the loss brought by ‘Paeng,’ CAAP Acting Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo said.

As ‘Paeng’ continues to move northwestward of the country, CAAP-operated airports will now focus on assisting remaining stranded passengers and diverted flights while also clearing up the airports as they return to normal operations and schedules.
