THE hilippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) is warning of heavy rainfall in northern and central Luzon due to the combined effects of Tropical Depression Emong and the southwest monsoon.
The agency anticipates that this will significantly increase the risk of flooding and landslides in several areas, particularly Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, La Union, and their surrounding provinces.
The heavy rainfall is expected to persist from today until Saturday, prompting authorities to issue warnings and prepare for potential emergencies. Residents in these areas are urged to take necessary precautions and be vigilant against potential hazards.
PAGASA advises residents in the affected areas to monitor weather updates closely and take appropriate measures to protect themselves and their property.
This includes preparing for potential flooding by clearing drainage systems and securing loose objects that could be swept away by strong winds or floodwaters.
Landslide-prone areas should be particularly cautious, and residents in these areas are encouraged to be prepared for potential evacuation. Authorities are also advised to prepare for potential rescue and relief operations. The agency emphasizes the importance of preparedness and vigilance in mitigating the potential risks associated with heavy rainfall and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
