RIDING the wave of pride and inspiration from the stellar performance of Team Philippines at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, Quezon City District V Representative Patrick Michael Vargas advances key legislation to strengthen sports development and support Filipino athletes from grassroots to elite levels.
“Kasama ng pagbibigay pugay sa ating mga atletang Pinoy ang pagsiguro na ang imprastrucktura sa pagsuporta sa kanila ay nailalalatag ng gobyerno ng maayos”, says Vargas as he files for Tax Exemption for Donations for Youth and Sports Development Act (House Bill 6505) and Novaliches Sports Training Center Act (House Bill 3352).
The proposed measures aim to turn SEA Games success into sustained progress for Philippine sports and future generations of athletes by encouraging greater investment in youth and athletic development programs.
“Binabati natin ang bawat atletang Pinoy sa kanilang husay, sakripisyo, at karangalang ibinigay sa ating bayan. Ang bawat laban na kanilang napatagumpayan ay bunga ng kanilang determinasyon at pagmamahal sa bansa”, adds Vargas with the final standing of the Philippines for the competition.
Team Philippines finished the Games with 277 medals- 50 gold, 73 silver, and 154 bronze-placing 6th overall among Southeast Asian nations, highlighting the depth of Filipino talent across sporting disciplines.###
