SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Tuesday reaffirmed the full and unwavering support of the House of Representatives for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs, calling it a defining crusade for the nation’s future, security, and moral direction.
“This is a fight for the soul of our nation—and with President Bongbong R. Marcos Jr. at the helm, we are fighting this battle with truth, with justice, and with the Filipino people by our side,” Speaker Romualdez declared, following the President’s inspection of nearly ₱8.9 billion worth of shabu recovered from northern Philippine waters.
The confiscated methamphetamine hydrochloride—discovered through the vigilance of local fishermen in Zambales, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Cagayan—was immediately ordered destroyed by President Marcos using advanced thermal decomposition technology at the PDEA headquarters in Quezon City.
Speaker Romualdez hailed the President’s swift, transparent, and rules-based approach, describing it as “a bold and humane strategy that restores public trust while sending a clear message to drug syndicates that their days are numbered.”
“This is no longer just a campaign—it is a clear policy direction under the Marcos administration: one that rejects violence, upholds the rule of law, and mobilizes the whole-of-nation approach in protecting every Filipino community from the scourge of drugs,” the House leader emphasized.
He commended President Marcos for steering the anti-drug campaign toward one anchored on coordination, intelligence-driven operations, and community participation, noting that it was ordinary fishermen who served as the first responders in the recent interception of illegal drugs.
“This proves that the most powerful weapon in this fight is not fear—but trust, vigilance, and unity between government and people,” Speaker Romualdez said.
He also underscored the strategic importance of the President’s decision to personally oversee the destruction of seized drugs, noting that this strengthens public confidence in the system and ensures that no illegal substances are recycled or reintroduced into communities.
“President Marcos is setting a new standard of integrity and accountability. The message is clear: under his leadership, there will be no backdoors, no loopholes, and no compromises,” Speaker Romualdez added.
Speaker Romualdez assured the President and the public that the House of Representatives stands ready to pass legislation that supports interdiction, maritime and border control, intelligence fusion, and the rehabilitation of drug users who seek a second chance at life.
“The House is all-in. We are working closely with the administration to provide our law enforcement agencies with the tools, technologies, and legal frameworks they need to succeed—not just in arrests, but in building a future where recovery and reintegration are possible,” Speaker Romualdez said.
Speaker Romualdez warned that as criminal networks evolve, so must government institutions—and praised the Marcos administration’s ability to stay ahead through decisive leadership, transparency, and reform.
“This is not only a criminal justice issue—it is a national security, public health, and moral issue. And how we confront it will define our legacy as a people,” he said.
Speaker Romualdez called on every Filipino to rally behind President Marcos in this fight, assuring the nation that the campaign will continue with professionalism, compassion, and the full weight of the state.
“With President Marcos leading with courage and vision, and with the Filipino people standing beside him, we will defeat this threat—together. We owe it to our children and to the generations yet to come,” Speaker Romualdez concluded.
