SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Thursday expressed solidarity with the Filipino Muslim community as they marked the beginning of the Islamic New Year, acknowledging their vital role in advancing peace and national progress.
He underscored the deeper meaning of Amun Jadid, calling it a moment for collective reflection and spiritual recommitment, not only for Muslims but for all Filipinos seeking a more just and inclusive society.
“Amun Jadid, or the Islamic New Year, is a time for spiritual renewal, reflection and a reaffirmation of one’s commitment to peace, compassion and community. The lessons of the Hijrah – sacrifice, perseverance and deep faith – continue to inspire not just the Muslim faithful but all Filipinos who strive for a better and more just future,” he said.
As the leader of the House of Representatives, Speaker Romualdez reaffirmed his commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality among all sectors of society, especially the Muslim population.
Speaker Romualdez ended his message with warm wishes for a meaningful and peaceful observance of Amun Jadid.
(END)
