SENATOR Bong Go has called for an impartial investigation into the allegations against Col. Royina Garma, stating that her recent affidavit and statements during the Quad Comm hearing are “clear diversionary tactics” aimed at muddling the issue of her alleged involvement in a murder plot.
“Malicious and unsubstantiated statements should have no place in any credible investigation,” Senator Go said in a statement. “I would strongly encourage the Senate to conduct an impartial investigation on these allegations.”
Senator Go emphasized the public’s right to know the truth, stating, “Palagi kong sinasabi, karapatan ng taumbayan na malaman ang katotohanan. Doon lang sana tayo sa totoo at tama. Kilala n’yo po ako. Mas gusto kong magtrabaho at magserbisyo lamang sa kapwa ko Pilipino pero kung sariling pangalan ko na ang nadudungisan, hindi ako papayag dyan.” (I always say, it is the people’s right to know the truth. We should only focus on what is true and right. You know me. I prefer to work and serve my fellow Filipinos, but if my own name is being tarnished, I will not allow that.)
Senator Go’s statement comes amid growing scrutiny of Col. Garma’s actions, with many observers questioning the timing and motivations behind her recent statements. Critics have accused her of attempting to deflect attention from the serious allegations against her by making unsubstantiated claims against others.
The Senate’s investigation into the allegations against Col. Garma is ongoing, and it remains to be seen whether the investigation will uncover any evidence supporting her claims or those of her accusers. Senator Go’s call for an impartial investigation underscores the importance of ensuring a fair and thorough process to determine the truth.
