SDML Marcos vows continued support for typhoon-hit Adams and other affected areas

admin November 16, 2024

HOUSE Deputy Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte First District Rep. Ferdinand Alexander A. Marcos assured residents of the Municipality of Adams and other typhoon-affected areas that recovery and rehabilitation efforts will continue as the region grapples with the aftermath of the recent typhoon.

Highlighting the challenges posed by landslides and disruptions to daily life, Marcos emphasized his office’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of all affected constituents.

“Following the recent typhoon, the Municipality of Adams has faced significant challenges due to landslides and disruptions to daily life. Immediate actions are being taken to address these concerns, ensuring the safety and welfare of all our kakailians,” Marcos said in a statement.

He noted that his office, in coordination with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, has promptly mobilized resources to support recovery efforts.

According to him, private contractors, working in tandem with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), are tirelessly clearing landslides, while fuel provided by DPWH ensures the efficient operation of heavy equipment and machinery.

“Private contractors are working tirelessly to clear landslides, with the Department of Public Works and Highways providing fuel to efficiently operate heavy equipment and machinery,” Marcos explained.

Essential supplies such as food packs have already been distributed to affected families, while housing materials are being provided to assist in rebuilding efforts. These immediate interventions aim to alleviate the hardships faced by displaced residents.

“Food packs and essential supplies have been distributed to affected families, while housing materials are provided to assist in rebuilding efforts,” Marcos said.

He also highlighted the role of government programs in addressing both short-term and long-term needs.

The Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) TUPAD program has been activated to provide cash-for-work opportunities for affected residents, helping them recover financially while contributing to community rehabilitation.

“Through the Department of Labor and Employment’s TUPAD program, cash-for-work opportunities are helping residents recover while offering immediate financial relief,” he added.

While significant progress has been made, Marcos acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by the community and the long road to full recovery.

“We remain deeply concerned about the ongoing challenges faced by the residents of Adams. While significant progress has been made, we recognize that recovery is a long-term process,” he stated.

Marcos emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between the national government, local agencies, and private stakeholders to build a more resilient community.

“The Office of the First District assures the public that support will continue to flow to affected areas, and we call on all sectors to work together to build a more resilient community,” he urged.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Adams and other areas in his district, ensuring that no family is left behind during this challenging time.

“Our office assures the public that support will continue to flow to affected areas,” Marcos said.
