ZAMBALES, Philippines – Jocelyn O. Acojedo, a vendor, has been found guilty and sentenced by the court for violating the Animal Welfare Act in the town of Subic, for the killing of a dog named “Tiger.”
Based on the decision of Subic Municipal Trial Court, Third Judicial Region Judge Roel G. Samonte, Acojedo was sentenced to six (6) months imprisonment and fined P20,000 as punishment for the cruelty inflicted on the dog “Tiger.”
The incident occurred on March 26, 2025, when the accused killed the dog Tiger, who was reportedly roaming around the market in search of food.
Animal welfare groups have praised the court’s decision, hailing it as a victory for animal rights and a deterrent against animal cruelty.
