TWO young brothers, aged 5 and 6, were found dead inside an abandoned car in a secluded vacant lot in Labason town, Zamboanga Norte, on Saturday.
The brothers, both residents of Labason, were discovered by the owner of a nearby repair shop. According to Labason Municipal Police Station Chief, Police Captain Roy Malayo, the children’s mothers had filed a missing persons report on Friday.
The children’s mother recounted that prior to the incident, the brothers, along with a young girl, had been picking guava fruit. The girl, however, began to cry because she wasn’t given any fruit.
Fearing punishment, the brothers hid inside the abandoned car while the girl went home, potentially to report the incident. It is believed that the brothers locked the car door, trapping themselves inside for two days, ultimately leading to their deaths.
The cause of death is believed to be suffocation due to being trapped inside the car.
