THE police chief of Sultan Kudarat has also declared the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) in the province – drawing a crowd of 150,000 – to be a great success, even as the Pagkakaisa Concert drew a mammoth crowd of 120,000.
Police Col. Christopher Bermudez, Sultan Kudarat provincial police chief, wrote to the Police Regional Director of Region XII about the success of the BPSF Sultan Kudarat that rolled out over P1.2 billion worth of cash aid and rice assistance to citizens in the province.
“The event (BPSF), which offered to a total of 150,000 beneficiaries in different government programs and services in the morning, and a total of 120,000 attendees during the Pasasalamat Concert (Pagkakaisa Concert), concluded without any major incidents and ended Day 1 about 11:30 pm with fruitful result,” Bermudez said in the letter.
Upon instruction by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., the BPSF was led by Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and was attended by nearly 50 members of the House of Representatives, mostly coming from Mindanao.
A total of 500,000 kilos of rice were distributed to residents in Sultan Kudarat, prompting Gov. Pax Mangudadatu to call Speaker Romualdez “Mr. Rice” in his speech.
