ARESTADO ang isang Katolikong pari sa Looc, Romblon sa kasong rape.
Suspendido na rin ito ayon kay Bishop Gerardo Alminaza.
Si Conrado Mantac, 62, ay inaresto sa Barangay Estefania sa Bacolod City noong Lunes matapos ang arrest warrant na inisyu ni Sagay Regional Trial Court Judge Reginald Fuentebella.
Walang inirekomenda piyansa sa pari.
Si Mantas na nakatalaga sa Most Holy Rosary parish in Barangay Paraiso sa Sagay City ay inakusahan ng pamomolestiya at rape ng isang 17-anyos na choir member noong nakaraang taon.
Ayon kay Alminaza ang akusadyon at pag-aresto sa pari ay napakasakit para sa kanya at sa buong diocese of San Carlos.
“We have been consistent in our teachings and advocacy against any form of sexual abuse of children, women and vulnerable persons, and such crimes committed by any person and especially priests or religious cannot be tolerated,” ayon sa statement na inilabas ni Alminaza.
Tiniyak naman ni Alminaza sa awtoridad ang kanyang kooperasyon sa kaso.
“The diocese would like to assure the alleged victim and her family of support and protection, and is committed to provide the needed information openly and honestly to the public without reservations,” ayon pa kay Alminaza.
