Pagbilao, Quezon – A fire at Pagbilao Energy Corporation’s (PEC) facility on Friday evening resulted in one fatality and nine injuries, raising concerns about the impact on the region’s power supply as Pagbilao Unit 3 has been placed on forced outage.
PEC confirmed that the fire occurred at Unit 3 of the Pagbilao Power Station in Ibabang Polo, Pagbilao, at around 9:00 p.m. on October 31, 2025. The company stated that the fire has been contained. “We are deeply saddened that the incident resulted in one fatality and nine personnel sustaining injuries. At this time, our priority is to care for those who are hurt and ensure they receive appropriate medical treatment, and to support their families during this difficult time,” PEC said in a statement.
The power generation firm expressed gratitude to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Pagbilao local government unit, Quezon Province officials, and emergency response teams for their efforts to ensure the safety of nearby residents and prevent the fire from spreading.
With Pagbilao Unit 3 now offline, concerns are growing about potential power supply disruptions. PEC noted that the adjacent Pagbilao Unit 2 is currently on a planned maintenance outage, and work on that unit has been suspended. Pagbilao Unit 1 remains online. PEC said it is fully cooperating with relevant authorities in the investigation of the incident and is extending necessary assistance to affected personnel and their families. The company said verified updates will be shared as soon as additional information becomes available.
