CORDILLERA authorities raided clandestine cannabis farm sites during their 3-day joint PNP-PDEA eradication operations in mountainous areas in Benguet and Kalinga, and destroyed 106,140 fully grown marijuana plants.
Reports reaching PNP Chief, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr in Camp Crame from Police Brigadier General Mafelino Aspero Bazar said that on January 24-25, 2023 PIU, PDEU (lead), Lubuagan MPS, and Tinglayan MPS all of Kalinga PPO; 141st SAC,14SAB, SAF; RIU; and PDEA Kalinga conducted marijuana eradication in Brgy. Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga wherein 26,000 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated standard drug price (SDP) of P7,000,000.00 planted on 2,600 square meters of land were uprooted and burned on-site.
Meanwhile, on January 26 in Brgy. Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga, a land area of around 9,000 square meters with 65,000 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated SDP of P14,800,000.00 were burned by authorities.
Further, in a separate operation on January 25-26, 2023, personnel of Pasil MPS, Balbalan MPS, Tanudan MPS, Tinglayan MPS, PIU, PDEU, and 2nd PMFC Team Alpha all of Kalinga PPO; RMFB; and PDEA conducted marijuana eradication in Chumanchil, Brgy. Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
Reports revealed that operatives uprooted and burned on-site the 10,000 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated SDP of PhP2,000,000.00 planted on 1,000 square meters of land.
Moreover, on January 26, personnel of Kibungan MPS, Benguet PPO and PDEA-COR uprooted and burned 2,800 fully grown marijuana with an estimated standard drug price of PhP560,000.00 planted on two sites covering a land area of around 350 square meters in Sitio Bacbacan, Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet. While another 3 kilograms of dried marijuana stalks with an estimated standard drug price of PhP360,000.00 were burned on site.
On the other hand, another operation was conducted on Wednesday, and a total of 2,340 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated SDP of PhP468,000.00 planted on four sites with a land area of around 330 square meters were uprooted and burned along with the 2 kilograms of dried marijuana stalks with an estimated standard drug price of PhP240,000.00.
Reports further revealed that no cultivator was apprehended during the operations.
