THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has deployed a response team to contain the oil spill detected in two Batangas municipalities on Tuesday morning, 23 May 2023.
The oil spill was spotted at Barangay 4 in Calatagan and Barangay Calamias in Mabini, said PCG Station Batangas Commander, CG Captain Vic Acosta.
“Separate incident po iyon at 8:30AM nang naireport sa amin,” CG Captain Acosta said.
“Nagpadala po tayo agad ng oil spill response team and oil spill response equipment at agad din naman natin na-contain,” he stated.
“Inaalam pa po namin kung saan ang pinagmulan,” CG Captain Acosta furthered.
He said no other maritime accident occurred in the area while port operations were halted.
“Sa ngayon, clean-up operations na ang nangyayari,” the PCG Station Batangas Commander shared.
