15 bills filed to convert 189KMS of Basilan roads into national roads

admin May 23, 2023

DEPUTY Minority Leader and Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman

DEPUTY Minority Leader and Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman has filed 15 bills seeking the conversion of 15 provincial, municipal and city roads into national roads in order to ensure their maintenance and repair by the national government.

The measures covering the conversions of some 189 kilometers of road include the 39.7-kilometer Aguada-Sumagdang Junction Tairan Road in Isabela City, along with the Junction Balagtasan-Tumakid-Junction Sengal and the Junction Limook-Danit-Junction Badja roads, both of which are 24.4 kilometers long and in Lamitan City.

Of the 15 roads proposed for conversion, five are in the municipality of Lantawan, three are in Lamitan City, two each in Isabela City and the municipality of Maluso, and one each in the municipalities of Tuburan, Sumisip and Tipo-Tipo.

While Isabela and Lamitan are both cities, Maluso remains a fourth-class municipality, while Lantawan and Tipo-Tipo are both third-class municipalities. Tuburan is a second-class municipality and Sumisip is a first-class municipality.
