A NEW minivan, won in a raffle, fell into the sea from the vessel it was being transported on at the Baybay City Port in Leyte.
According to a report by GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, the incident occurred in the early hours of March 4, 2025.
The black minivan, which had come from Cebu, was loaded onto a roll-on-roll-off (ro-ro) vessel to be delivered to the raffle winner in Leyte. The incident happened while the vessel was docked at the Baybay City port.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle was being reversed when it suddenly accelerated and fell into the sea.
The driver was able to quickly exit the minivan and safely swim to the pier.
To avoid oil spills and allow other vessels to use the area, the minivan was immediately hoisted from the water using a backhoe.
