A MAGNITUDE 6.1 earthquake hit off the coast of Davao Oriental on Friday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
The earthquake occurred at 5:11 p.m.
The agency traced the location of the tectonic earthquake 149 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso town.
Instrumental Intensity IV was recorded in Malungon, Sarangani.
PHIVOLCS said it expects aftershocks to occur following the earthquake, which had a depth of focus of 105 km.
