PBBM to meet major German, Czech companies wanting to invest in PH

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is expected to meet with major companies in Germany and Czech Republic wanting to take advantage of the Philippines’ continuing impressive economic performance and conducive economic investment environment.

“During the President’s time in Germany and the Czech Republic, the President will focus on bolstering trade and investment opportunities in the Philippines, inviting German and Czech companies to increase their presence in the country,” Assistant Secretary Maria Elena Algabre of the Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of European Affairs said in a press briefing in Malacañang.

“The President will also attend business forums in both countries participated in by prominent business leaders,” Algrabre said.

According to Algabre, there are meetings with companies that are interested in renewable energy, manufacturing, healthcare, aerospace and innovation.

Aside from companies wanting to invest, the Philippines is also looking for increased labor tie up with the two European nations.

“Sa Germany po, iba-iba iyong kanilang mga … aside from the health workers, mayroon sa mga IT, sa manufacturing also and, of course, we have those who have made Germany their home,” Algabre said.

“Nagpunta doon, they met their family, they build their family there. Some are students also,” she said.

Germany and the Philippines commemorate this year 70 years of bilateral relations, which were established on October 8, 1954.

The European country is home to 36,000 Filipinos.
