TWELVE individuals have been rescued following a landslide at a landfill site in Cebu City, according to Cebu Mayor Nestor Archival on Friday, Enero 9.
Archival reported that seven of the rescued individuals are currently receiving treatment at Visayas Medical Center, while the other five have been taken to Cebu North General Hospital.
Out of the 110 employees involved in the incident, 38 individuals remain missing. A 22-year-old woman has been confirmed dead.
“Continuous care is being provided to all hospitalized victims to address their medical needs. The City Government is also extending burial assistance and necessary support to the family of the deceased,” said Archival.
Search, rescue, and retrieval operations are ongoing at the site. A total of 333 personnel have been deployed to assist in the operations.
“The City Government assures the public and the families of those affected that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure safety, transparency, accountability, and compassionate assistance as operations continue,” Archival stated.
The incident is currently under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the cause of the landslide.
