THE Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed no whitewash in the alleged rape of a teenager by a rookie policeman who is now under custody.
An 18-year-old lady and her family personally appeared at the Sta. Maria Municipal Police Station to report an alleged rape that transpired last December 26.
Allegedly, the suspect, Patrolman John Mari Lontok, arrived at the victim’s house and joined them in their drinking session.
However, the victim felt drowsy and decided to take a sleep. Upon gaining back her senses, she was shocked when she noticed that her pants and underwear were already removed and the suspect was already making physical advances.
The teenager tried to push him away and sought help but the suspect threatened to kill her.
Thereafter, the suspect immediately fled while his bag containing his issued firearm with magazines was left under the bed of the victim.
“This is a very unfortunate report. We are doing our best effort to search for the police officer involved. We will make sure that this will be a fair and speedy investigation,” PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos said.
Lontok surrendered to an arresting team at 2:00PM on Sunday at his residence Sta. Maria, Laguna and is presently detained at the Sta. Maria Polce Station.
Probers are now verifying the records of the firearm recovered by investigators.
PNP’s Internal Affairs Service (IAS) has also initiated its own investigation on the administrative aspect of the case.
“We are also asking the witnesses to cooperate in the investigation to shed light to the case,” Carlos appealed.
