THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Monday said Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental erupted and emitting plumes that rose to 5,000 meters.
Alert Level 1 is hoisted over Kanlaon Volcano, which means there is a slight increase in volcanic earthquake and steam activity.
According to Phivolcs, sporadic explosions are also observed with slight inflation or swelling of the volcano’s edifice under Alert Level 1.
Phivolcs recorded eight volcanic earthquakes from 12 a.m. on Sunday to 12 a.m. on Monday.
Kanlaon Volcano was observed to have emitted 177 tons of sulfur dioxide on Sunday, June 2.
