RIZAL Police Provincial Office director Police Colonel Felipe Maraggun announced Monday that charges of frustrated homicide and violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, as well as the Omnibus Election Code, are being prepared against the suspect in a road rage shooting incident in Antipolo City that wounded four people.
The incident, which occurred around 5 p.m. along Marcos Highway in Barangay San Jose, involved a 28-year-old businessman identified as “Kenneth.” Police say Kenneth, driving a black Toyota Fortuner, attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended during a hot pursuit and checkpoint in Barangay Mayamot.
Colonel Maraggun stated that the police are verifying Kenneth’s claim of possessing a gun permit with the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO). He confirmed that Kenneth lacked the necessary Certificate of Authority from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to carry a firearm, given the ongoing nationwide election gun ban.
Colonel Maraggun refuted the suspect’s claim that he fired his weapon because one of the victims was about to draw a firearm, stating that no such event was captured on available CCTV footage or phone videos.
Currently, three of the four victims have been discharged from the hospital, with the remaining victim undergoing surgery. The suspect’s partner has also been discharged.
