Biñan, Laguna, Philippines – A tragic incident unfolded in Biñan, Laguna, resulting in the deaths of four members of a single family, including two minors. Police reports indicate that the family’s father, a former security guard, shot and killed his live-in partner and their two children before taking his own life.
According to Biñan City Police Chief, PLt Col Allan Reginald L. Basiya, the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute fueled by jealousy. “The victim, the mother, and the suspect were in a live-in relationship,” Basiya explained. “Before the incident, there were reports of an argument, things being thrown, and gunshots. After committing the crime, the suspect took his own life.”
The mother and her 10-year-old daughter were killed instantly. Their 11-year-old son succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The family pet dog was also killed, and a cat was injured.
Responding officers faced delays due to the house’s locked gate, leading police to believe the crime was premeditated. A neighbor, Josephine Destua, recounted seeing one of the children with gunshot wounds to the foot and hand. She shared that the children often sought refuge at her home when their mother was away.
The suspect’s sibling issued a public apology to the victims’ family. “We hope they can forgive my brother,” they said.
The Biñan police have declared the case closed. The incident highlights the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the urgent need for support systems and intervention programs to prevent future tragedies.
