THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region today received one cold chain transportation vehicle donated by the Korean International Cooperation Authority (KOICA) and Korean Embassy to augment the country’s cold chain management of COVID-19 vaccines.

The turn-over ceremony was led by Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III together with KOICA Assistant Country Director Ms. Lee, Hyun-Joo and Undersecretary Carolina Vidal-Taino and Dr. Joyce U. Ducusin, OIC-Director IV of Supply Chain Management Service held at Ciudad Christhia Resort, San Mateo, Rizal.

Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco expressed her gratitude to the Korean Government and DOH for the assistance. “With this refrigerated van, we can further improve the vaccination program   and further expand cold chain management of COVID-19 vaccines in the regions.”

“Korea has been providing support to our country since the start of the pandemic and we are very grateful for their continued support in combating the Covid pandemic,” she added.

The DOH received a total of 38 refrigerated vans donated by KOICA last February 2022.

The donation is part of the Korean government’s USD 2.5 million assistance to the country which aims to provide cold chain capacity-building for DOH supply chain officers.

The refrigerated vans were turned-over to the various regions of the country through the DOH Centers for Health Development (CHDs).
