CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Malolos, Bulacan – Police authorities conducted a cellphone inspection among their ranks after reports surfaced of some officers becoming addicted to online gambling and betting.
In a Facebook post by the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, PLTCOL Allan Palomo, DPDA, and PLTCOL Laurente Acquiot, DPDO, led the inspection of cellphones of police officers in the province this Tuesday morning, under the supervision of PCOL Satur Ediong.
According to the post, the inspection was thorough, with no exceptions made. Even high-ranking officials and chiefs, alongside their personnel, underwent the inspection.
The measure was taken to prevent officers from getting caught in the trap of online gambling and potentially losing their salaries or even becoming involved in criminal activities.
The inspection of cellphones at the police camp revealed no evidence of online gambling or betting among the officers.
The directive, it was learned, was in line with the directive of Chief PNP Police General Francisco Marbil to eradicate illegal activities within their ranks.
It is reported that many people have become impoverished after losing millions to online gambling, particularly to games like “scatter.”
