AS police authorities of Southern Luzon intensify the campaign against criminality and lawlessness in the Region, Rizal cops promptly arrested three of their colleagues for robbery extortion on Friday while a civilian cohort remains at large, Philippine National Police Chief General Dionardo Carlos announced.
In a statement made on Saturday, Carlos said that operatives of Tanay Municipal Police Station (MPS) arrested three PNP personnel of Intelligence/ Drug Enforcement Team, Tanay Municipal Police Station on March 18, 2022 at about 1:00AM identified as PSMS Darlino Casamayor Jr.; PCpl William Sayago; and Pat Allen Bey Tendilla, while an “at large” unidentified civilian suspect is being tracked down, for alleged robbery extortion committed against the complainant Aljon Marcelino Indon, 31.
According to reports, Indon was brought by the suspects to the Intel Office of Tanay Municipal Police Station at MH Del Pilar St., Brgy. Plaza Aldea, Tanay, Rizal on March 17, 2022 at about 4:45 PM for alleged violation of RA 9165 also known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
While inside the office, the suspects asked the complainant of the content of his pocket where he showed them more or less P93,000 cash.
At this juncture, the suspects allegedly made an arrangement with Indon and due to fear of being charged for violation of RA 9165, he opted to give the money in exchange for his freedom.
Indon, however, requested for a small amount of the said money where the suspects, after giving him P23,000, released him.
Thereafter, Indon sought the assistance of Tanay MPS which yielded in the arrest of the three police officers, however, their civilian cohort remains at large.
Recovered from the arrested suspects was the extorted money amounting to P49,000
“The PNP condemns any member of the organization who transgresses the law and gets involved in illegal activities. We will see to it that all errant police personnel will be sanctioned accordingly and shall face dismissal from police service after accorded them with due process, ” Carlos said.
