2 charged for carrying P13M worth of marijuana in Kalinga

admin February 27, 2022

TWO persons are facing charges for violation of RA 9165 otherwise known as ‘The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002’ after being intercepted by authorities of Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) in an attempt to transport a total of Php 13,560,000.00 worth of marijuana outside the region early morning of February 25, , Philippine National Police Chief General Dionardo Carlos announced on Saturday.

Citing the report of PROCOR Regional Director, PBGen Ronald Oliver Lee, PGen Carlos disclosed that the suspects, identified as Aldren Paul Cabanes Pacion, 27, and Jaymor Sacatani Eusebio, 31; both residents of Tuao, Cagayan; were intercepted by operatives of Kalinga PPO, RID-PROCOR and PDEA CAR in a police checkpoint conducted in Lubuagan, Kalinga.

Confiscated during the arrest were assorted cartons containing 106 bricks and seven (7) elongated packaging weighing more or less 113,000 grams with an estimated Standard Drug Price of Php13,560, 000.00; cellular phones; and the suspects’ driver’s license.

The marking and inventory of the pieces of evidence seized were conducted on-site in the presence of the suspects and witnessed by Brgy Kagawad Edna TaoTao of Brgy. Dangoy and media representative, Ms. Leonora Lo-oy.

Further, the suspects along with the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of Lubuagan Municipal Police Station (MPS) for documentation and proper disposition.

Meanwhile, PGen Carlos lauded the joint operatives of PROCOR and PDEA for the successful arrest of the two suspects which is a big accomplishment in the intensified pursuit of “massive marijuana eradication” in the mountains of Cordilleras.

“The PNP’s strengthened campaign against illegal drugs in cooperation with PDEA remains relentless as we steadfastly commit in the government’s aspiration of a drug/crime-free country”, PGen Carlos said.
