AUTHORITIES seized approximately 89 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine (meth), valued at an estimated P605.2 million, in Zamboanga City on Sunday morning following a successful entrapment operation.
This marks the largest single haul of meth seized by authorities in Zamboanga City to date.
The operation comes just over a week after another significant drug bust in Zamboanga City, where 67 kilograms of suspected meth, worth P455.6 million, were seized from two suspects in Barangay Bunguiao.
Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta, director of the Police Regional Office in the Zamboanga Peninsula, identified the three men arrested in connection with the latest seizure as Wang Yu, 53, of Isabela City, Basilan; John, 27, of Barangay Suterville, Zamboanga City; and Addil, 41, of Barangay Mariki, Zamboanga City. The suspects were apprehended after a brief chase when they attempted to evade a checkpoint in Barangay Rio Hondo. The meth was found packed in Chinese tea bags and concealed inside four ice chests.
