THE legal team of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy has requested an extension of his medical furlough due to a dental complication, according to his lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon.
Torreon explained that Quiboloy’s dental operation, which affected his jaw, has resulted in an infection of his dental implants. “We requested for an extension because there are matters that need to be addressed with respect to his dental operation,” he said in an interview.
The prosecution has reportedly opposed the extension, and the matter is expected to be addressed in court today.
The continuation of the hearing for Quiboloy’s human trafficking case is scheduled for Friday at a Pasig City court.
Quiboloy, who is currently detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, was transferred to the Philippine Heart Center on November 8 after experiencing chest discomfort the previous day. He returned to the detention facility on November 16.
A Pasig City court previously denied Quiboloy’s request for a hospital arrest.
Quiboloy, who claims to be the “Son of God,” is facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, before a Pasig court. He is also facing charges under Section 5(b) and Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
