THE Quezon City Office of the Prosecutor has dismissed a cyber libel complaint filed by former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV against Atty. Harry Roque.
In a resolution dated October 9, 2024, Assistant City Prosecutor Darlene Oani stated that the complaint was dismissed due to “insufficiency of evidence.”
Trillanes alleged that Roque made “derogatory statements” against him on his verified personal Facebook account.
Roque shared the city prosecutor’s resolution on his Facebook account.
According to Roque, Trillanes filed the cyber libel complaint after he said:
“Hey Trililing, excuse me, the Philippines did not lose even an inch of territory during President Duterte’s time. And I remind him that we lost territory during P-Noy’s time, when he was appointed as a special envoy without the Senate’s permission because he was a detained senator.”
“I thank the public prosecutors for applying the law on libel correctly,” Roque said.
Trillanes, however, said it was too early for Roque to comment on the case.
“He hasn’t even been able to return home. Anyway, we will still be filing a motion for reconsideration today,” Trillanes said.
