THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has endorsed the cancelation of Bamban Mayor Alice Guo birth certificate to the Office of the Solicitor General.
PSA Assistant National Statistician Marizza Grande said there were irregularities in the late registration of Guo’s birth certificate.
During the resumption of the Senate probe into the mayor’s alleged links to Philippine offshore gaming operators, Grande said
“We already endorsed to the Office of the Solicitor General for the cancellation of the COLB because ang PSA naman has no power to automatically cancel pag nakita natin na may irregular process doon sa registration (if we see that there was an irregular process in the registration).
Grande said that if the certificate of live birth (COLB) is cancelled, Guo’s identity would technically be considered ‘floating.’
Guo earlier cited her birth certificate as proof that she is Filipino, having been born to a Chinese businessman and a Filipina housekeeper.
Grande said the PSA’s investigation found that the late birth registration for Guo and her sister Shiela was not supported by sufficient documents.
The only document submitted was a negative certification from the National Statistics Office, the PSA’s predecessor, she said.
The negative certificate attests that there is no birth record for a certain individual.
