This comes as Category 5 Hurricane Melissa unleashes its force on the Caribbean country, where approximately 500 Filipinos reside.
The DFA has stated that the foreign service posts are actively working to ascertain the safety and well-being of the Filipino community in Jamaica. As of 5 a.m. Philippine time on October 29, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries among the Filipinos living in the affected areas.
The Philippine government remains committed to providing assistance and support to its citizens in Jamaica during this challenging time.
