New York – The Philippine Consulate General in New York is providing assistance to three Filipino nationals who were injured in a tourist bus crash that resulted in multiple fatalities.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that all passengers aboard the bus have been identified and their next-of-kin have been notified. The DFA also clarified that no Filipinos were among those who died in the accident.
The three injured Filipinos, who are based in Qatar and were touring New York, have been discharged from the hospital and cleared for travel.
A representative from the Philippine Consulate will meet with them to assess their needs and ensure their well-being until their scheduled departure.
The bus crash occurred on Friday, August 22, approximately 25 miles east of Buffalo, as the tourists were returning to New York City after visiting Niagara Falls. Reports indicate that there were 54 people on board the bus, including Filipino, Indian, and Chinese nationals.
