THE Philippine government is now formulating a plan to repatriate over 400 Filipinos in Lebanon who wish to return to the country amid tensions.
In an interview on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Laos, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. announced that during a Zoom meeting with agency leaders, they discussed how to bring home Filipinos as soon as possible.
Furthermore, there is reportedly a directive for ship owners to avoid passing through dangerous areas affected by the tension.
Despite this, Marcos stated that the situation in Lebanon remains at Alert Level 3 for now, and raising it to Alert Level 4 will depend on the assessment of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
It is noted that once Alert Level 4 is declared, there will be mandatory evacuation of Filipinos.
