THE Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Sta Ana successfully rescued the crew members of half-submerged MB Kiray at the vicinity waters approximately 15 nautical miles North off Palaui Island, Sta Ana, Cagayan.
While traversing the vicinity waters off Palaui Island enroute to Babuyan Claro, its starboard bow was accidentally hit by a dolphin with estimated length of five feet, causing the said motorbanca to be half-submerged.
Further, the crew promptly threw some cargoes to the water to lessen the immersing.
After receiving the report from a certain Mervin Pablo, the CGSS Sta Ana organized a search and rescue (SAR) operation and scoured the vicinity waters.
Upon sighting, the SAR team onboard Aluminum Boat (AB- 049) rescued four (4) crew members onboard distressed MB Kiray, all in good health condition.
The half-submerged motorbanca declared abandoned by the captain because it was difficult to tow.
