SEARCH and rescue teams have recovered the bodies of all six crew members from the Philippine Air Force (PAF) helicopter that crashed in Agusan del Sur on Tuesday, the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) announced.
“The search and rescue operations have led to the recovery of six bodies believed to be those of the pilot and crew members of the ill-fated Super Huey helicopter,” EastMinCom said in a Facebook post. The identities of the fatalities are being withheld pending notification of their respective families.
Troops from the 60th Infantry Battalion under the 1001st Infantry Brigade and the 10th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army secured the crash site to ensure the area’s security.
The Philippine Army has also extended its full support to the PAF in the ongoing investigation of the fatal crash. The PAF helicopter was conducting humanitarian operations for communities affected by Typhoon Tino when it crashed in the vicinity of Loreto, Agusan del Sur. The PAF initially reported losing communication with the Super Huey helicopter, prompting the immediate launch of a search and rescue operation.
