HERMOSA, Bataan— Governor Abet Garcia expressed optimism that the ambitious P4 billion Hermosa Mega Build projects will further open the floodgates to economic development not only in Bataan but also in neighboring areas in Central Luzon as they broke ground the project Saturday.
The ground breaking of the project in the remote barangay of Mabiga was personally attended by Senator Richard Gordon, who provided part of the fund; Cong. Joet Garcia, Vice Gov. Cris Garcia, District Engr. Erlindo “Boying” Flores, Atty Tonyboy Roman, DPWH assistant director Denise Maria Ayag, provincial, municipal and barangay officials.
Says Gov Garcia in his speech that draws applause from the public: “ Itaga ninyo sa bato at magbibigay ito na ibayong kaunlaran hindi lang sa barangay Mabiga, bayan ng Hermosa, kundi ang buong Bataan.”
Garcia lauded Mayor Antonio Joseph “Jopet” Inton for his unequalled vision for the giant project which he described as the biggest infrastructure projects ever implemented by the commercial pilot turned town mayor of Hermosa.
To make it more accessible, Garcia said that there will be entry and exit to be opened in the SCTEx ( Subic-Clark-Tarlac expressway).
According to Garcia, the project (Phase 2) will open all the way directly to SBMA, while the Phase 1 will pass through several barangays in Hermosa and the proposed Phase 3 road project will open all the way to Morong.
For his part, Gordon who was also impressed by the project hailed Inton’s initiatives whom he described as visionary leader who is always thinking of his constituents.
Inton said the 24-kilometer project known as the Hermosa Mega Build Project will connect Barangay Mabiga in Hermosa to Morong, Bataan and the Subic Port Road.
Inton said this will pave the way for the inter-connectivity of the Hermosa Economic Zone with the Clark International Airport and the Bataan Technology Park, the former Philippine Refugee Processing Center in Morong.”
According to Inton, the construction of Phase 1 is ongoing. It is funded for P300 million with P200 million from Gordon and P100 million from Senator Sonny Angara.
“Ito ang pinakamalaking project sa kasaysayan ng Hermosa,” (This is the biggest project in the history of Hermosa), Inton said.
The Department of Public Works and Highways Region 3 and Bataan 1st District Engineering office will implement the multi-billion project.
